What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word that means “universal life force energy.” It is the ancient hands on healing technique that uses the universal life force energy to heal, harmonize and balance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels of the body.

Reiki, the energy has existed since time immemorial. It was only after the efforts of Dr Mikao Usui in the mid 19th century, that the knowledge of healing with Reiki was discovered.

A person who is able to channelize the cosmic energy for self or for others is called a Reiki channel. The energy enters through the Crown chakra located at the top of the head, travels down to the heart chakra, and then flows out through the hands. It is not the person’s own energy but the energy drawn from the universe. A Reiki channel’s energies are never being depleted or diminished while imparting Reiki to others. On the contrary, the channel heals one’s own self in the process. Reiki is not a religion and does not require any shift in one’s current personal beliefs.

Reiki is present everywhere but we only become aware of it after an Attunement process conducted by a Reiki master.

In the first degree workshop, the basic technique of touch healing is imparted.

Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki.
